How to Start a New Organization

Complete each step before chartering and official recognition.

1

Inform SEAL, Build Founding Group, and Prepare Required Documents

Notify SEAL that you are proposing a new group. Gather at least 10 founding members who are full-time students and meet the minimum 2.0 GPA requirement. Draft the constitution using SEAL's sample format, designate a president, treasurer, and other officers on the New Student Organization Application (NSOA), and secure a full-time faculty/staff advisor and advisor agreement form.

2

Hold Three Pre-Charter Meetings

Reserve campus space and hold three meetings before chartering. During this period, business is limited to drafting the constitution and forming your organization structure.

3

Submit for Review

Submit all documents to SEAL. Nationally affiliated groups must include a letter authorizing campus colonization and a letter of advisor support.

4

Finalize Recognition Requirements

Recognition is granted the following semester after approval. The proposed organization must not duplicate an existing organization, and all founding members must complete the Anti-hazing course on CANVAS.

Registration Will Be Denied If
